Safety Courses

About the Header Picture

On October 20, 2012, four pilots from SEAKAA donated their time and airplanes to give introductory flights to six of the 14 aviation enthusist enrolled in Matt Hunter’s Mt. Edgecumbe High School Ground School class.

Students pre-flighted one of the four airplanes of their choice. They inspected all parts of the airplanes including checking for water in the fuel tanks before flight by using a checklists specific to the airplane they choose (above picture).

Students practiced essential skills including taxiing, takeoff, straight and level flight, turns (some practiced steep 45 degree turns), and tracking Biorka’s VOR aid to navigation.
